In these dire, COVID-ful times, it is important for us to shed light on some good news. With the media only drawing attention to tragedies, it’s hard to remain optimistic. Thus, I have put together a list of some positive news for your week:


  • The European Space Agency (ESA) sent the first space robot to clean up debris surrounding the earth in outer space. 

  • Ralph Lauren donated $10 Million USD to coronavirus relief efforts.

  • U-Haul offered 30 days of free storage and discounted prices for displaced college students.

  •  Student loan payments are being stopped until pandemic ends, with no interest.

  • The Olympic Games, in an effort to become eco-friendly, are planning to plant an “Olympic Forest” in Africa by 2030, to take action against desertification. 

  • Local restaurants and schools provide meals for families around their city who rely on school for meals.

  • A customer paid a tip of $2,500 USD on a $30 USD bill in Ohio to make up for lost wages during the lock-down.

  • Scholastic is offering free classes for students who need to stay home.

  • Uber Eats waived delivery fees for local restaurants to support their business. 

  • A football club in Italy, A.S. Roma, is using its social media platform to help locate missing children.

  • Utrecht, Netherlands turned 300 bus stops into shelters for bees.

  • Dogs’ ability to scent-track led to the discovery of a 3,000-year-old artifact in Croatia.

  • The Queen gave up real fur from her wardrobe.

  • Ingebjørg Blindheim, an Instagram “lifeguard”, monitors 450 Instagram accounts and has prevented suicide all around the world. 

  • More farms have made an appearance on rooftops in Paris.

There’s a lot of good happening in the world, we just need to keep looking. I really hope this news added some brightness to our time off. Through this experience, humanity has been the closest it’s been in a while. With that, let’s make meaningful connections and spread positivity, even if it’s as simple as telling a friend or two how much you miss them.
