If you’ve been on social media recently, you’ve likely seen a recent surge in people including their pronouns in their bio, outside of just the trans and gender-fluid communities. For those that fall somewhere on the gender spectrum that’s not just cisgender (man or woman), the usage of pronouns avoids misgendering. For cisgender folks, including your pronouns, even when you don’t believe there would be confusion, helps to normalize the usage of pronouns for everyone, and shows your allyship to the trans and gender-fluid communities. With the amount of time everyone has spent on zoom, editing your name to include your pronouns is an easy and impactful step you can take.
1. Click on your initials in the top right corner of the zoom home screen.
2. Click “Settings”.
3. Click “Profile”.
4. Click “Edit My Profile”.
5. A web page for zoom will open up. Click “Edit” on the bar next to your name.
6. Add your pronouns into the box for last name. Sometimes “/“ may not work, but a comma shouldn’t have any problems!
7. Click save changes.
8. You should be good to go for every consecutive meeting!
