SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Max Page

Max Page is a St. Margaret’s Senior who joined the SMES community just last year. He says that “the students and the teachers were very supportive and welcoming as I became a Tartan.” Max found his true place at St. Margaret’s where he feels comfortable and at home – he credits this to the wonderful community. Max feels bittersweet about his senior year coming to a close and beginning a new chapter of his life at Loyola Marymount University, where he plans to study film production and political science. LMU is a highly ranked film school – in the top ten nationally. Max loves writing screenplays and filmmaking because of his passion for telling stories emotionally and effectively. In fact, he plans to write a full feature length screenplay for his Independent Senior Project. He has also just recently begun watching a plethora of films in preparation for his time at film school, with his favorite so far being The Dark Knight directed by Christopher Nolan.

In his free time, Max is also a member of the Screen Actors Guild which has provided him with a variety of professional acting opportunities. He has played roles in movies starring Johnny Depp and was “Mini Darth Vader” in the 2011 Volkswagen Super Bowl commercial. Max believes that it was his love of acting and storytelling through taking on different characters that exposed him to the film industry and therefore influenced his love for filmmaking. In addition to this, Max enjoys playing video games, watching sports, and hanging out with his friends. As for Max’s engagement with the community, he is an ambassador and spokesperson for children's healthcare issues. Max himself struggles with a life-threatening heart condition which is what inspired him to become involved with advocacy for children's healthcare. He shares his own story in order to provide other children with hope and to show his community how much doctors should be appreciated.

Max finds that he is constantly learning and growing and has changed quite a bit from when he was a freshman in high school. As advice to younger students, he says, “put yourself out there, try new things, and don’t be afraid to fail.” He also believes that showing up for friends is extremely important in strengthening his relationships with his friends. Max is a well-rounded, integral part of the St. Margarets community, and we look forward to seeing what he achieves next!

A huge thank you to Max for collaborating with the Margazine for this article!
